Ron McLellan (1959 - 2009)

RON MCLELLAN, a native Canadian, started his racing career in 1984 at the age of twenty-five beginning in the Comp Flat class. He then moved to Pro Gas Hydro and continued until that class was eliminated in the early 1990’s. Ron then moved up into the Pro Mod class where he ran “Liquid Quik” for 4 years and managed to capture six National Championship titles, three championship Runner-up titles. He was also awarded “Mr. Nice Guy, Best Engineered Boat and the Kirk Wright award for Drag Boat Ambassador of the year.

Ron met his partner, Bob Montgomery in 1986 where they both competed in the Pro Gas Hydro class. In 2000 Bob and Ron decided to join together as owners/drivers and go Top Fuel Hydro racing. They raced together for 10 years, setting two World ET records, winning the 2009 East Coast Swing in Top Fuel Hydro and achieving a speed of 253 mph in the quarter mile!
